WCVM alumna cares for calving caribou

One WCVM-trained veterinarian is at the forefront of caring for caribou and other wildlife as the official wildlife veterinarian for British Columbia’s Ministry of Forests.

Dr. Helen Schwantje has held the position of wildlife veterinarian since 1992. Her work is the focus of a recent profile in the Revelstoke Review, written by reporter Jocelyn Doll.

Schwantje is heavily involved with a caribou maternity pen project, designed to help increase caribou calf survival in the wild.
