NSERC funding includes over $900,000 for WCVM researchers
University of Saskatchewan (USask) researchers based at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) received over $900,000 in research funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) Discovery Grants program.
By WCVM TodayNSERC Discovery Grants are intended to award funding to creative and innovative long-term research programs in instalments over a period of five years. NSERC has committed over $514 million to the Discovery Grants program during this time.
A total of 36 USask researchers from a variety of colleges and departments received more than $8.7 million in 2023 NSERC funding. In addition, seven researchers received a $12,500 supplement to start their projects as early-career researchers.
Four WCVM-based projects were selected for a funding total of $917,500.
