The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 27, in Room 2115 at the WCVM. The veterinary college's team of cancer specialists will be there to discuss different aspects of the disease and to answer questions about diagnosing and treating cancer in pets.
"The technology available to treat pets with cancer has evolved rapidly over the last five years," says Dr. Monique Mayer, professor of radiation oncology at the WCVM.
"We can now offer the same advanced options for cancer treatment to our patients that human patients have access to."
At the oncology education event, the WCVM team will discuss cancer prevention and treatment options and share some case stories.
Following the discussion, team members will take visitors on a tour of the Veterinary Medical Centre's (VMC) Small Animal Clinic — including the facility's linear accelerator that's used for pet radiation therapy.
